Support Staff
The Support Service Bureau is comprised of Booking, Records, Communications, Crime Analyst, DARE, School Resource Officers, and Airport Security.
The Booking Officers are responsible for booking in and fingerprinting people after they have been arrested.
The Records Division provides services to the department, other governmental agencies and to the public. Their task includes processing police reports and citations, obtaining answers to questions from the public, and providing thorough research for patrol and detectives. The Record Clerks process request and subpoenas pertaining to police records. They are also responsible for record management and storage. Copies of police reports and traffic accident reports are released in accordance with the Louisiana Public Records Law R.S.44:3.
Monroe Police Department has a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD). The Communication Officers answer calls to service (emergency and non- emergency) and dispatch police officers to the calls by radio and mobile computers.
The Crime Analyst is responsible for analyzing crime patterns and distributing reports on a weekly basis.
The MPD DARE Officers teach the DARE Curriculum in the elementary schools throughout the City of Monroe. The acronym DARE represents DRUG Abuse Resistance Education. The DARE Curriculum entails drug awareness, the effects of drugs, building self- esteem, gang violence and bullying.
The School Resource Officers develop safety plans for potential threats in the city’s Jr/Sr High Schools. The SROs are trusted to keep the students and staff safe and to deescalate potential issues.
MPD’s Airport Security provides safety for civilian/commercial aviation passengers, visitors, aircraft, and facilities at the Monroe Regional Airport
